The role of immunity in shaping adipose tissue development and metabolism – Jurga Laurencikiene group

The group focuses on the studies of physiological and pathological role of inflammation in human adipose tissue. We also aim to define sex-specific differences in a crosstalk of adipose tissue immune component, adipocytes and adipocyte progenitors in association to metabolic complications.

Gruppen studerar funktionen hos immunceller i fettvävnad och deras roll i fetmarelaterade komplikationer såsom insulinresistens och typ 2-diabetes. Dessutom är vi intresserade av hur signaler från immunceller påverkar hälsosam respektive ohälsosam expansion av fettvävnad, samt hur könsskillnader påverkar dessa processer.
