About me

  •  

    I am investigating the role of myeloid responses, in particular microglia and macrophages,  in the brain in the context of neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with the aim to identify novel therapeutic targets for these diseases.

    In neurodegenerative diseases, myeloid cells are implicated in causing damage to the central nervous system (CNS) but also promoting tissue repair. This dichotomous response governed by different myeloid activation states has the potential to impact disease trajectory. We are using human placenta-derived stem cells to modulate myeloid cells to promote reparative processes in the CNS and reduce neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative diseases.
