About me

  • Naimi Johansson is a health economist and post doc at the Department of clinical science and education, Södersjukhuset. In her research, she focuses on the effects of health care policy and health economic evaluations.

Research

  • As a postdoctoral researcher in Johannes Blom's research group on Cancer Prevention and Screening, Naimi Johansson is working on the research project EVIDENCE evaluating the Stockholm-Gotland screening program for colorectal cancer. In the project, she is responsible for the health economic sub-studies to examine the economic burden of colorectal cancer, the societal costs of screening, as well as the cost-effectiveness of the screening program.

Naimi Johansson has published on how patient out-of-pocket prices affect healthcare demand, why healthcare use differs between regions in Sweden, and the evidence regarding health effects and cost-effectiveness behind decisions to introduce pharmaceuticals. Methods for studying these types of policy issues include econometric analyses and observational data (register data). Naimi Johansson has also worked on health economic evaluations of, for example, changed diagnostic criteria for gestational diabetes and treatment of crossbite in children.

With a background in economics, Naimi Johansson defended her dissertation at the Sahlgrenska Academy in 2021 and later worked as a researcher at Region Örebro. During her third cycle studies, Naimi Johansson has held positions in several councils and committees at the Sahlgrenska Academy, such as chair of the PhD student council and PhD student representative in the Faculty Board. She has organized a Swedish network for PhD students in health economics. Naimi Johansson has also been a visiting PhD student at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and established a research collaboration.

Teaching

  • Naimi Johansson teaches primarily micro economics and health economics. She is supervising theses on bachelor and masters level, as well as PhD students.
