About me

  • My research focuses on the clinical translation of psychiatric genetics and genomics in primarily autism. Aside from my doctoral studies, I am also a resident in psychiatry working at North Stockholm Psychiatry. I am a part of Tammimies group, Center of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at Karolinska Institute (KIND), Department of Women's and Children's Health.

Research

  • My research focuses on the clinical translation of psychiatric genetics and genomics into practice, with a particular emphasis on autism. My goal is to translate genetic insights into meaningful clinical contexts through clinical trials, supporting early understanding, empowerment, and more tailored interventions that improve well-being and other long-term outcomes.

In my doctoral project, I aim to address the following main areas:

    1. Investigating the perspectives of the autism community in Sweden on genetic research, focusing on expectations and concerns.
    2. Examining how genetic counseling, with and without the use of polygenic scores, can enhance genetic knowledge, empowerment, and mental well-being among autistic young adults, as part of the Autism Genomics Sweden (AuGeS) study.
    3. Assessing the level of genetic knowledge among both autistic and neurotypical young adults in Sweden, and exploring how this knowledge influences individuals' reception and engagement to genetic counseling.
    4. Validating psychometric scales translated into Swedish for use in psychiatric genetics and genomics.
    5. Developing other ways to integrate genetics and genomics into psychiatric care, including adapting approaches for autistic children and their families, and exploring how similar models could be applied in other conditions.

Throughout my research, I aim to bridge clinical psychiatry and genetics/genomics to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and move toward a more personalized and proactive approach to psychiatric care.
