FESKIS

FESKIS is the first study of its kind in Sweden to explore the food environment of students and employees in an academic setting, using a mobile app for real-time data collection.

University campuses are places where students and staff spend a significant part of their time during workweek. The accessibility and availability of food in such environments greatly influence daily food choices and shape long-term dietary habits—whether healthy or harmful.

FESKIS (Food Environment South ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Study) explores the current food environment at ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s southern campus. The study focuses on three central campus buildings—Neo, Novum, and Zanderska Huset. Using the Mobile Sense app (developed by Arbisense AB), participants log their meals by uploading photos, allowing for detailed analysis of eating patterns.

Key areas of focus include

  • The presence of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) in meals
  • Differences between homemade meals and those purchased from local restaurants or food stores
  • Mapping on local food purchasing locations and eating spots on campus

Through this data, FESKIS aims to evaluate the campus food environment and deliver evidence-based strategies to support healthier eating habits and make nutritious choices more accessible.
