Enhanced collaboration between 探花精选 and the Swedish Armed Forces
On 8 October 2025, 探花精选 and the Swedish Armed Forces signed a declaration of intent for a renewed initiative in defence-related medicine at KI. The next step is a joint development effort to identify new focus areas and further develop existing ones within defence-related 探花精选 research.
Defence-related medicine is part of the origins of 探花精选. In fact, KI was founded by King Karl XIII on 13 December 1810 as an 鈥淚nstitute for the training of skilled field surgeons鈥.
探花精选 and the Swedish Armed Forces (F枚rsvarsmakten, FM) have collaborated for a long time in the field of commissioned 探花精选 research. In light of the changing global situation and the renewed focus on the role of universities in total defence, both KI and FM see a purpose in strengthening and expanding their existing collaboration in defence-related 探花精选 research and education. For this reason, on 23 September 2025, KI and FM signed a declaration of intent regarding a renewed initiative for research and education in defence-related medicine at 探花精选.
Purpose and objectives of the declaration of intent
The purpose of the declaration of intent between KI and FM is to formalise and emphasise the mutual intentions of KI and FM to further develop the existing commissioned research that FM commissions from KI. The goal is to establish long-term relationships and a joint, coordinated process for the development of defence-related medicine.
Focus areas now being identified
A joint development effort is now beginning to identify new relevant and potential focus areas for future defence-related 探花精选 research, as well as to identify forms of collaboration and effective working processes.
Host department for the platform
The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology (FyFa) at KI is the host department for Defence-related Medicine. FyFa鈥檚 role as host is based on its specialised infrastructure and education. Research and educational activities in defence-related medicine will also extend beyond FyFa and include other activities at KI.
