SRP Diabetes Fellowship Grants
The Fellowship Programme was launched in 2021 with so far five rounds of awarded grants to PIs at 探花精选.
Principal investigators at 探花精选 are eligible to submit a project for consideration to the SRP Diabetes Postdoctoral Fellowship Program within basic, translational, clinical, and/or epidemiological research with an emphasis on diabetes and its comorbidities (e.g. cardiovascular and liver disease). Projects should have a clear relevance for diabetic disease and principal investigators should document their track record in diabetes related research. Applications are externally evaluated, see selection committee below.
In the fifth round of fellowship grants a total of six projects were awarded. Of twenty-one received applications in category 1, four were awarded and of ten received applications in category 2, two were awarded. (Project numbers are ordered after the last name of the main PI).
Category 1: Projects within the areas above.
Project 1. "Brain Circuit Dysfunctions Linking Diabetes and Parkinson鈥檚 Disease Comorbidity" Main PI Anders Borgkvist (Neuro, KI) and co-PI Cesare Patrone (KI S脰S)
Project 4. "Understanding the Pathophysiology of Systemic MASLD". PI Stefano Romeo (MedH, KI)
Project 5. "Molecular mechanisms causing skeletal muscle dysfunction in polycystic ovary syndrome". Main PI Elisabet Stener-Victorin (FyFa, KI)
Project 6. "Exploring the Biological Pathways Linking Type 2 Diabetes and "Type 3 Diabetes"". Main PI Weili Xu (NVS, KI) and co-PI Abigail Dove (NVS, KI)
Category 2: Collaborative project of translational nature within the areas above. Projects by two PIs/supervisors where one should be an active clinician and the other a basic scientist with a clear complementary expertise.
